Welcome to holidaygirl1225's media theories and random stuff blog!
I know what I said last time. And I was really uncomfortable with the idea of playing the Dragon Blazers beta build again, but... my neighbor offered to come over and keep me company while I played for you guys again!
So, picking up from last time. If you haven't seen my post on chapter 2, then read it here!
Chapter 3 starts out as usual, cutscenes and all! Which is weird, because for those that remember, every other chapter thus far lacked a lot of integral context establishing cutscenes.
The cutscene upon arrival in the infested Visio City is different however, as, I don't have Axe recruited, since the normal ending quest of chapter 2 never played out.
This means you get to head east with Scarf (and no White Cloak because of last chapter...)
The reporter vans are still here in the beta build, and just as frustrating to dodge. (i had to give my neighbor the controller because of how long it was taking me XD. in my defense... im pretty sure their hitboxes are slightly bigger in this build??)
When I was halfway to level 3, the screen shook... and from offscreen down dropped Axe?? Yeah, not even as the Dragon or anything. She's just there and ready to join. There's no dialogue or anything, she just follows the party like nothing.
I wasn't going to complain until I realized she doesn't even attack enemies. Usually Axe is one of-if not the strongest party member in Dragon Blazers, but here? She was really just tagging along XP.
Either way, I just continued to mow down enemies until I hit max level. Which didn't happen. Instead I hit level 4 and that was that. I explored around the whole city, but most of it was unfinished, especially the southern half.
Eventually, I stopped at a room in the top right corner of the city, since it had these tiles which actually went unused in the release of Dragon Blazers, but came back in Dragon Blazers II.
It was these red rope fences that were placed super awkwardly on the walkway. I sort of just messed around there while me and my neighbor got lost in a conversation. Though, that quickly stopped.
My heart dropped.
I didn't mean to.
I pressed the attack button on Scarf and he
I killed him. My EXP bar climbed up halfway.
Was this seriously what was going to happen in Dragon Blazers?
I shouldn't get so upset over some game characters, but... after last time?
...
Axe walked up to me, none the wiser. She was just following right behind me, as she always did.
I looked away.
The game said "She gave you the Shelter Key."
I hit max level.
A spells menu opened.
Hitting pause and then selecting a spell let you aim and cast them.
I learned "Rude Buster" and "Pacify"
For those that don't know Dragon Blazers well, those are the signature spells Axe and Scarf know.
I selected Rude Buster and destroyed the rope fence.
There was this back alley. It used a tile set usually reserved for a fetch quest in the beginning of chapter 3.
At the end was a manhole. A sprite never seen before by the Dragon Blazers community. I went down it.
The next area was a hallway of grass, closed in by autumn colored trees. Me and my neighbor looked at each other.
I walked down until we saw it.
Two huge red bunker doors.
The same as the shelter at the very northmost point of our town.
I walked up to the entrance
The game said "The Shelter Key was used"
Then it crashed.
Yeah...
I asked them to stay the night. They're on the couch playing some random mobile card game they just found in the app store on my phone.
It wasn't as bad as last time, atleast?? X/
